Thugs threw a piece of concrete at a man’s head after they broke into a house demanding gold.

The four men forced their way into a house in Ruislip shortly before 10pm on Thursday and went from room to room, demanding gold and breaking items.

They eventually left the house, in Victoria Road, empty handed and got into a car.

Seeing a man on the phone, one then picked up a piece of concrete and threw it at the victim’s head.

The victim, a man in his late 40s, fell to the floor.

The car then mounted the pavement and was driven towards him. He was not hit but was taken to hospital following the assault.

Another member of the public was later approached and sprayed in the face with an unknown liquid, and also required hospital treatment.

The suspects drove off in the direction of South Ruislip.

They were all wearing dark clothing, woolly hats and had black scarves covering their faces. They were in a dark-coloured car.

Detective Constable James Williamson, of Hillingdon Borough, said: "This was a terrifying burglary which ultimately left two people injured.

“This happened on a main thoroughfare in Ruislip Manor, and at this time of night there would have been countless people in the area.”

There have been no arrests.
