'Tick tock': How Twitter reacted as Article 50 was triggered
So it's happened: Article 50 has been triggered.
Finally, after nine months of negotiations, a Supreme Court case, votes, rallies and protests, it has been done.
Donald Tusk has been given the famous letter, and Theresa May is due to announce what is in the letter to MPs before Mr Tusk makes a statement on Article 50.
People have reacted in many different ways to us starting the process of leaving the EU.
Here is how Twitter reacted.
Donald Tusk confirmed it had happened
After nine months the UK has delivered. #Brexit

It's packed in the Chamber for Theresa May's statement

George Osborne apparently spent it at the Standard
Seeing George Osborne doing a shift in the office on the day Theresa May triggers Article 50 is surreal

And now the time for negotiations has started ticking away
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock....

Some were happy the letter was hand delivered
Nice to see important letters are still being hand delivered in an age electronic mail. #brexit#Article50#BrexitBritain#donaldtusk

Not everyone was happy

Some hoped the letter would have been lost in the post
I'm surprised that letter triggering Article 50 didn't get lost in the post like all my letters to Santa. @RoyalMail muppets

But it is really happening. Britain is leaving the European Union
