Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness star Doc Antle has assured the public that the safari animals in his care are safe amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

Antle, who appeared in the smash-hit Netflix documentary alongside Joe Exotic, has told TMZ that the collection of animals at his wildlife safari in South Carolina, USA, have been sheltered from potential exposure to the virus as the facility has been on lockdown since the US government first advised social distancing.

He added that he and his employees all live on-site and have been in quarantine, with no external visitors being allowed in, and that the big cats are being regularly bathed by the same member of staff to limit potential exposure.

Antle also said that if one of his animals were to contract COVID-19 it would be placed into isolation for 14 days, as a person would be.

Another star of Tiger King, Carole Baskin, has also confirmed that the animals at her tiger rescue facility in Florida, USA, are being closely monitored and that none are showing any symptoms.

It is unusual for animals to be infected with COVID-19, but a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York City has recently tested positive.

With the seven-part documentary series having become a huge hit for Netflix, a reunion episode is said to be in the works.

Joe Exotic's husband Dillon Passage recently said while chatting on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM show that the episode was "going to be a live episode, kind of like a reunion", but added that "Netflix didn't contact me to [be] a part of that".

The news came after Jeff Lowe, who took over Exotic's zoo following his arrest and subsequent imprisonment, claimed that Tiger King would be extended by one episode.

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is streaming now on Netflix.
