Tiger Woods plays Pebble Beach practice round as he prepares for US Open

Tiger Woods announced this week that he would be playing the Memorial Tournament in preparation for the US Open next month, but that hasn't stopped the 15-time Major champion getting some practice time in around Pebble Beach.

Woods, 43, was spotted at the California course, which will host the 199th US Open in June, getting in a few practice rounds before heading to Dublin, Ohio for the Memorial, hosted by Jack Nicklaus.

After winning the Masters in April, his fifth green jacket and first Major title in 11-years, Woods did not play a competitive round before last week's PGA Championship, where he missed the cut.

Illness meant Woods could only manage nine practice holes at Bethpage Black, which showed as he shot 72 and 73, missing the weekend by a single shot.

Ahead of the US Open, which he has won three times, most recently in 2008, Woods is getting the practice in early, spotted by another golfer at Pebble Beach as he played a rare round with just the one camera phone fixed on him instead of the usual thousands.

Woods is playing on a limited schedule this season after stretching himself to the limit last year before winning his first PGA Tour event, the Tour Championship at East Lake, since back fusion surgery.
