Timelapse Shows Giant Spider Crab Molting From Smaller Shell

Australia-based diver Jules Casey filmed a timelapse of a molting giant spider crab on Sunday, June 23.

Casey posted the video to Instagram, where she wrote in the caption, “It’s like unzipping your pants after a big meal. How good must this crab feel.”

According to Museums Victoria, every year thousands of spider crabs congregate in Port Phillip Bay ahead of their annual winter molt.
