Swansea and Bristol City in battle for Arsenal starlet

Swansea City face competition from Championship rivals Bristol City for Arsenal forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, according to reports.

The 21-year-old can play as a striker or out on either flank. He spent the first half of the season last year out on loan at Cheltenham Town, but failed to score in 13 attempts.

However, his end-of-season form, in which he scored five goals and two assists in 11 games for Arsenal's under-21s, appears to have caught the interest of some.

Football Insider claim Swansea, Bristol City and German duo Schalke and FC Nurnberg have registered their interest in the player, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Gunners. It looks likely he will depart permanently this summer.

The player had a loan spell at Accrington Stanley in 2023, featuring 11 times but still did not find the back of the net. He awaits his first goal in senior football.

Swans 90 minutes from windfall

Swansea are now 90 minutes away from netting a significant amount of money thanks to Leeds United.

The Yorkshire club hammered Norwich City in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final last night, meaning they will meet the winners of the Southampton v West Brom match this evening.

Joel Piroe was on the score sheet as Leeds stuck four past the Canaries last night and there will be Swansea supporters willing on the Elland Road outfit in the final, too.

The exact make-up of the deal which took Piroe to west Yorkshire, believed to be worth an initial £12m, still isn't clear, but it's understood that one of the add-ons is dependent on promotion to the Premier League.

Indeed sources close to the deal have previously indicated that the return of top-flight football at Elland Road could be worth as much as £3million to the Swans.

Such a sizeable cash injection would clearly come as a huge boost to Luke Williams, who will be looking to mould a squad in his image this summer .Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.

Naughton signs new deal

Swans defender Kyle Naughton has put pen to paper on a one-year extension at the club.

The contract will see him bring up a decade of service for Swansea, with the fresh terms seeing him through to June 2025.

Naughton arrived at the club in 2015 from Tottenham and has made more than 300 appearances for the SA1 outfit.

He has been a tremendous servant over the past 10 years and showed last season his worth to the shirt, even in his twilight years.

As such, Luke Williams has got him on board for another 12 months as the club complete their first bit of summer business.

"He's a thoroughbred. That's why he played in the Premier League because there's no free ticket, you have to have the talent and you have to work hard,” Williams had said of Naughton earlier this season.

“He's an athletic boy. His brain is so good that he can play without getting into too many difficult situations.

“What a player he is. He is so gifted. He makes football look simple at times. We will play on tough pitches, or against aggressive opposition, but he is so calm and has so much quality. He sees things that other players wouldn’t be able to see.”
