Tokyo Game Show is taking place this week, bringing us a host of presentations from SEGA, Square Enix, Capcom and more.

This year TGS will be taking place digitally, but that won't change its format of showcasing the biggest upcoming announcements and games from Japanese publishers.

Nintendo, or rather, Koei Tecmo, is also set to make an appearance to shed more light on its Breath of the Wild prequel Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, while Capcom has designated a slot to Monster Hunter: Rise and Resident Evil Village.

Square Enix will be there to show off more from the upcoming Nier games, so it, unfortunately, won't be about Final Fantasy XVI.

Since there's a lot being shown, with plenty of room for some unannounced titles, you'll want to keep on top of the schedule when the show begins this week.

TGS 2020 start date and how to watch

Tokyo Game Show 2020 will be taking place entirely online this year.

The opening ceremony is set to begin at 12pm BST, Thursday, September 24 and will run from until Sunday 27 September.

On the first day of the show, there will be livestreams from Xbox, Square Enix and Lightning Games.

You can watch everything directly from the official TGS YouTube channel, which will broadcast the entire show live.

We understand that the presentations will either be in English or have an English-languge translation.

Which developers will be present and when do they start?

TGS will play host to multiple game studios from Xbox to Square to Capcom to CyGames and more.

Each one has a designated slot when it will be going live to show us all the new things in development.

Bear in mind that there are other presentations taking place, but below we are just going to list the major developers to watch out for.

Thursday, September 24

Microsoft Japan

Xbox is going to be kicking off the event during TGS opening night show.

At the moment there's no information about what Xbox will be showing off, but it must be good to be headlining the whole show.

Square Enix

Square will have its slot on Thursday directly after Xbox. While there might be a special surprise look at more Final Fantasy XVI, which was recently announced, this presentation is focused on the Nier franchise.

There will also be segments dedicated to the Brave Exvius mobile game, the new Marvel's Avengers, and Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai.

SEGA / Atlus

Dare we dream that Atlus could announce a new Persona game here? It is unlikely considering P5 Royal came out this year and the gap between games is always substational, but we will forever hold out hope.

Atlus is going show off the Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne HD Remaster coming to Switch with a live gameplay demonstration by director Kazuyuki Yamai.

Other reports indicate that there will be a segment dedicated to Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers which might mean we will get a release date for the west since the title is currently only available in Asia.

SEGA could use the show to build hype around the impending Yakuza: Like a Dragon, otherwise, the next biggest game from them is Puyo Puyo Tetris 2.

Capcom

Capcom is going to show off extended looks at Monster Hunter: Rise, Monster Hunter: Stories 2 and Resident Evil Village.

Rise is the next Monster Hunter game coming to the Switch, which looks like it will be a step back from World, opting for the original playstyle with some nifty improvements.

Resident Evil Village probably has more hype than Monster Hunter (tragically), but an extensive look, perhaps even a fixed release date, would be expected to come from TGS.

Cygames

Cygames will show off a Special Sneak Peek of Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle, which is a Switch exclusive.

The Japanese studio is also responsible for the Granblue Fantasy franchise, and its currently working on its next big title, Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Maybe, if we're really lucky, there will be a mention of this upcoming RPG.

Konami

This is the first of two Konami shows and this one might be dedicated to new announcements.

We know that the second show will be all about Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei Reiwa mo Teiban, so perhaps we can expect some new reveals or just a general update during the first presentation.

Koei Tecmo

This will be a big show to watch as it will give us an extended look at Nintendo's new Legend of Zelda spinoff Hyrule Warriors: The Age of Calamity.

Sunday, September 27

Koei Tecmo

As mentioned, Sunday's show from Koei will be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Dynasty Warriors, a legendary hack-and-slash franchise set in China during the Three Kingdoms period.

Perhaps we'll get a new Dynasty Warriors game announced, or maybe it will just be a celebration of the entire series which essentially created a genre.

Konami

As mentioned above, this show will be dedicated to Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban!
