Tom Wagner confirms Birmingham City changes advised by Tom Brady are near completion

Birmingham City have almost completed training ground renovations advised by minority investor Tom Brady, Knighthead chief Tom Wagner has confirmed.

Brady deployed two of his fitness coaches at the Elite Performance and Innovation Centre midway through last season and his long-time aide Alex Guerrero conducted an audit of the club's facilities. A number of areas were flagged for improvement and Knighthead have made them during the close season.

Brady, who played top-level sport well into his forties, wants to transfer some of his ideas from the world of NFL to football in the hope that Blues' players will benefit.

Wagner said: "Through our partnership with seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and his expert coaching and nutrition team, we are near completion of renovations at our high-performance facilities to make Birmingham City pioneers in sports science, injury prevention and recovery, nutrition, and mental well-being."

Brady has only visited Birmingham twice to watch games against Leeds United and Rotherham since his minority stake in the club was announced last August. But two of his coaches, Peter Cummings and Rob Brennan, were permanently based in Birmingham for a large part of last season. Brennan has been working with Blues forward Tyler Roberts in Las Vegas during the close season.

The club's chief executive Garry Cook added: "Tom’s expertise in the areas of sports medicine, recovery, nutrition, and mental preparation is going to be a game changer for the club."
