Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Tuesday, April 9.

Cody Drameh: Cardiff was vital for my development

Leeds United's Cody Drameh has branded his loan spell at Cardiff "vital" in his development.

Drameh was the club's player of the year in 2022, despite joining on loan in the January. He helped Luton Town to Premier League promotion the next season before embarking on another loan spell away from Elland Road, at Birmingham City, this season.

Cardiff come up against Birmingham tomorrow and will like face Drameh, whose Blues side are fighting for their lives near the wrong end of the table.

Drameh's contract at Leeds is up at the end of the season and there is no doubt that Bluebirds fans would snap your hand off to have him back on a free in the summer. And it's clear the right-back, 22, holds fond memories of his time in south Wales.

“My loan spell at Cardiff City was very important for my development as a player. It was my first loan experience, going into a first-team environment, where they put their faith in me and hopefully, I repaid the faith they put in me," he told WalesOnline in partnership with SkyBet. "At the time, getting consistent minutes for me was vital for my development and me experiencing playing weekly.

“My six months at Cardiff was important for me as I was playing most weeks, and it was my first proper experience of playing Championship football. Joining Cardiff at the time, they were hovering near the relegation zone, so being able to help Cardiff stay in the league was a personal achievement and was great for the club.”

“I had a great relationship with the Cardiff supporters during my time at the club. Every time people ask me about my time at Cardiff, I always have high praise for them. The fans were top and I remember a lot of the time when I was in the stadium, they would be chanting my name, so I’m very appreciative of them.”

Ralls: Good decisions must be made

Bluebirds captain Joe Ralls wants to achieve another promotion at Cardiff City, but says "good decisions" must be made in order for that to happen.

Cardiff have been promoted twice to the Premier League, with Ralls on the books for both of those ascensions to the Premier League. Ralls has said he wants Bulut to stay on as manager, you can read more about that here, but at time of writing, the manager's situation remains in the air.

For Cardiff to kick on next season, they cannot undo all the good work which has gone on this year. Vincent Tan must be clear in his strategy if Cardiff are to continue improving in order to get a shot at promotion next term.

Speaking on the Sportin Wales podcast, Ralls said of his ambitions: "I'd love to go again next season and build on what I think has been a positive season. Build and try to get into those top-six positions and really have a got at trying to get the club back into the Premier League.

"Obviously, it's easier said than done, so many teams want to do it. But, ultimately, the club that we have, I really think we can achieve it again.

"Good decisions need to be made. It's not easy to do that, but I think if things are put in place and the attitude to work is there like it was this season, who knows? We can try and get back up there."

U21s held to draw

Cardiff City U21s were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Wigan Athletic in the Professional Development League.

The young Bluebirds scored a fine first-half goal when Tanatswa Nyakuhwa was played through before he squared it to Finley Johnson, who tucked home into an empty net.

However, Darren Purse's side conceded a soft equaliser on 19 minutes. Luke Brennan sent a corner into the area and the Bluebirds' goalkeeper, a trialist, was in no-man's land while Youssef Chentouf rose to head the ball into the far corner.

It was an even contest thereafter and the teams, quite rightly, shared the spoils at the end of the match. The draw sees Cardiff's winless run continue, as the young Bluebirds sit in eighth place in the PDL2 South table.
