Liverpool 'anticipate selling' Phillips

Liverpool are anticipating the sale of Nat Phillips this summer after his successful loan stint at Cardiff City, according to reports.

The centre-back came in during the winter window and was a standout performer in the back half of the campaign. Indeed, manager Erol Bulut admitted he'd like to see him back in a Cardiff shirt next season.

Phillips himself said he would "certainly consider" a return, while sources have not ruled out the 27-year-old re-joining the Bluebirds this summer.

The Daily Mail claim that Liverpool are expecting to sell Phillips, who has two years left on his deal at Anfield, this summer. How much of a fee he would command is as yet unknown, however Liverpool have a track record of selling fringe players for big bucks.

Whether the asking price would be too exorbitant for Cardiff is another matter all together.

12 to leave as retained list published

Cardiff have confirmed 12 players will leave the club this summer, while five players have been offered new deals.

The Bluebirds had to submit their retained list while Erol Bulut's own contract situation was still in limbo. However, Bulut signed off on all decisions.

There are few surprises, with senior players Romaine Sawyers, Sheyi Ojo, Rohan Luthra and Oliver Denham all leaving the club at the end of their contracts.

At under-21s level, a further eight players — Xavier Benjamin, James Crole, Ryan Kavanagh, Kyle Kenniford, Caleb Hughes, Finlay Johnson, Jai Semenyo and Chanka Zimba — will all seek new opportunities elsewhere. Sign up to our Cardiff City newsletter here.

A year was triggered on Jamilu Collins' deal after he played his 30th game for club earlier in the campaign, while Malachi Fagan-Walcott, who really impressed during his loan stint with Dunfermline Athletic last term, and promising winger Isaac Jefferies have also seen options to extend their deals taken up.

Cardiff have also confirmed that Cameron Antwi, Tom Davies, Raheem Conte, Kieron Evans and Matthew Turner have all been offered new deals ahead of the new campaign.

Cardiff players in action

Bluebirds duo Manolis Siopis and Andy Rinomhota are in action today for their respective countries.

Siopis's Greece take on Germany while Rinomhota's Zimbabwe take on Lesotho in a World Cup qualifier.

It comes after Rubin Colwill got 60 minutes under his belt for Wales last night in their dreadful 0-0 draw against minnows Gibraltar out in the Algarve.

While it was a disappointing result and performance, it was Colwill's first senior appearance for the national team since he came on against England in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
