Drammeh closes in on move

Our colleagues at football.scotland report that Sevilla striker Musa Drammeh is closing in on a move to Hearts.

The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Cardiff back in April. Out of contract with Sevilla this summer, the Gambian turned out for their B side in the fourth tier of Spanish football.

The Gambian has scored 11 goals in 63 appearances for Sevilla Atletico. He helped them secure promotion to the Spanish third tier last season. Sign up to our Cardiff City newsletter here.

Reports emerged in Spain late last night, with the youngster now poised to become Steven Naismith's next summer signing in Edinburgh.

The Bluebirds are in the market for a striker or two this summer but Drammeh won't be one of them, it appears. Cardiff are understood to want an attacker with experience of scoring goals in the Championship.

Tomlin takes next career step

Lee Tomlin has passed his UEFA A licence and has thanked Leicester City for the opportunity to work with their age-grade sides.

The Bluebirds cult hero gained the qualification with the FAW, adding his name to an illustrious group of graduates from the course.

He thanked the Foxes' head of academy Ian Cawley and former Bluebirds coach James Rowberry for his help too.

He wrote on X: "Delighted to accomplish passing the UEFA A Licence. Like to thank James Rowberry who has helped me in the process of it all. Also like to thank Jon Rudkin, Paul Cheney, Ian Cawley for the opportunity to coach the 18s @LCFC. Can’t wait to see what the 24/25 season has next for me."

Tomlin has been doing work with the east Midlands club for some time. He said in an interview with WalesOnline last December: "Leicester have let me go in and learn as much as I can. I go in there and I'm there longer than most of the coaches there! I love it. It's quite funny. The assistant manager at Leicester under-18s, Eric Odhiambo, I've known him for years, and he just started laughing and saying, 'Do you realise what coach you are and what you're telling the lads? It's the opposite to what you ever did!'

"The big thing is working hard and your reactions when you or someone else has lost the ball. When that happened, I wouldn't work hard or react, I'd probably just stand there and moan!"

It will be interesting to see where Tomlin takes the next step in coaching.

Bluebirds back

Cardiff players have returned to the Vale today for the start of pre-season.

Aaron Ramsey, Rubin Colwill and Joe Ralls, among others, were back at the club's training base to begin preparations for the summer schedule and 2024/25 season.

Some players, such as those who have been on international duty, have been afforded extra time away to recuperate.

After the early off-season instability surrounding Erol Bulut's future at the club, this presents an opportunity for the club to take a step in the right direction ahead of a busy summer fixture list.
