Following a video call on Wednesday, it's claimed the two clubs have now come to an agreement over a deal, with the K-League side even posting a statement on their website claiming the player would be joining the Swans.

They are also now expected to hold a farewell event at their stadium on Friday.

The club said: "Gwangju announced that they held a video conference between the club's CEO, No Dong-il, and the Swansea City representative at 5:00 PM on the 3rd to discuss the details of the transfer and confirmed Eom Ji-Sung's move to Swansea City.

"Swansea City, having witnessed Eom Ji-sung's performance that led the team to its best league finish in 2023 and advancement to the Asian Champions League, has been actively seeking his recruitment and has been courting him continuously. Gwangju then focused on the player's future and negotiated and finalised the transfer.

"Meanwhile, Gwangju announced that it will hold a farewell ceremony during the week where Eom Ji-sung and fans can meet for the last time."

Cadogan seals Kidderminster loan

Swansea City Under-21s' winger Maliq Cadogan has sealed a six-month loan move to National League North side Kidderminster Harriers, subject to international clearance.

The 19-year-old arrived in SA1 in July 2023, having previously come through the ranks at Crystal Palace, and even made appearances in both the EFL Cup and Premier League Cup.

Following his move to south Wales, he also helped Swansea's under-21s reach the final of the Nathaniel MG Cup, netting in the fourth round win over over Cardiff City. He even picked up a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over Watford at Vicarage Road back in March.

Commenting on the move, the youngster said: “I’ve been in the academy process throughout the years, and I think now, stepping up into this league and this club, which I’ve heard good things about, it’s going to be a good test for me.

“The manager was very convincing in what he wants to do with the club, especially this season.”

Derby day moved

Swansea City's South Wales derby clash with bitter rivals Cardiff City has been moved for live TV coverage.

The match had initially been pencilled in for Saturday, August 24, but will now kick-off at 3pm on Sunday, August 25, and will be available to watch on Sky Sports.

Two other games have also been moved. Swansea's meeting with Bristol City, originally set for Saturday, September 28, has been pushed back 24 hours to the Sunday, with kick-off staying at 3pm.

It means the following away fixture at Sheffield United will now move to Wednesday, October 2 from its original slot on Tuesday, October 1. Kick-off will still be 7.45pm.

Youngster pens pro deal

Swansea City midfielder Yori Griffith has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old has penned a deal that will keep him at the club until 2026, with the option for an additional 12 months.

Having been a regular for the under-18s, Griffiths made his debut for the under-21s in the defeat to Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium in March.

Under-18s' head coach Jarred Harvey said: "It's an incredible achievement for Yori, he's been at the club since he was very young and he's a great boy.

"Before he signed his scholarship, Yori played up an age group with the under-18s, and he's also shown he can by slotting straight in to the under-21s.

"He was hit with an injury in the closing stages of the season, but he is someone who is focused and works so hard, he'll be ready for the new campaign and hopefully gain some experience around the first-team set-up."
