According to Football Insider, the Swans have made enquiries over the Brentford midfielder, but could face competition from Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Portsmouth, helping them clinch promotion from League One last term. During his time at Fratton Park, he netted two goals in 12 appearances.

His contract at the Gtech Stadium is set to expire next summer, although the Bees do have an option to extend for a further year, which could well hand the youngster an incentive to impress on loan again.

Whether that will be at Swansea is unclear, with club sources heavily playing down the possibility of a move for the former Chelsea starlet in this window.

Swansea confirm Cologne pre-season clash

Swansea City have confirmed their first pre-season fixture of the summer, with the club set to take on German side FC Koln as part of their pre-season tour of Austria later this month.

The Swans are set to take on the 2.Bundesliga side at the Thermenstadion in Waltersdorf on July 24. Kick-off is at 4pm local time.

City's full pre-season schedule is set to be confirmed in due course.

Paterson goes Stateside

Swansea City are continuing to wait on a contract decision from Jamie Paterson, as he continues to mull over his future.

The forward is currently a free agent following the expiration of his previous deal at the end of last season, and his immediate future remains somewhat uncertain.

It's understood the Swans have placed a new one-year extension on the table for Paterson, who so far hasn't returned with his team-mates for the start of pre-season.

The 32-year-old has scored 17 goals in 109 appearances since joining Swansea in 2021, and is believed to still be weighing up his options.

He appeared to hint towards a Swansea stay recently, posting a picture of himself in Swans kit on his official Instagram with the caption: "Not long till the madness starts again."

Now, judging by his Instagram story, he appears to be in the United States, with one picture appearing to be from a Charlotte FC game.

Whether there's anything to be read into that remains to be seen.

Josh Ginnelly appears to be making good progress in his bid to return to full fitness.

The winger has been sidelined since September with an Achilles injury, but is hoping to be ready for the new campaign under Luke Williams.

The club posted a video of the former Hearts star on social media on Thursday, along with the caption: "The grind back to full fitness continues".
