Top 10 Wetherspoons in Scotland named and only two are anywhere near Glasgow

Found nearly everywhere in the UK, Wetherspoon pubs are always a destination for those looking for decent pint or bite to eat at a good price.

Glasgow is home to seven of their pubs with more to be found in the surrounding areas around the city. A popular choice for drinkers, one website has just named the top 10 Wetherspoons from across Scotland – and incredibly only two in or around Glasgow make the list.

The research conducted by experts at Q.R. Code Generator analysed a list from the Wetherspoons website of 869 Wetherspoons pubs and hotels across the U.K. to establish which ones are the best rated by the average total percentage of excellent reviews on Google Reviews.

And no, it wasn't your typical favourites like the Crystal Palace on Jamaica Street or the Counting House at George Square that made it onto the shortlist.

In fact, John Fairweather in Cambuslang was the only spot from Glasgow to make the top 10, with the popular bar, which is situated at the east end of Main Street, named third best rated in Scotland.

Housed within a local landmark of more than 80 years, which began life as the Savoy Cinema and later becoming a bingo hall, the bar was named for Glasgow-born architect John Fairweather, best known for designing The Playhouse, in nearby Glasgow (two years before the Savoy).

Nearly half of all its reviews were rated as excellent.

While slightly further out in Coatbridge, the Vulcan made it to ninth on the list with just 44% of its reviews being rated as excellent.

The Caley Picture House in Edinburgh was named best in Scotland and third best in the UK overall, with the pub named after the first iron boat to be built in Scotland.
