Top Gear's official dog has passed away, aged 11.

TG the labradoodle, owned by presenter Richard Hammond and wife Mindy, appeared on a few episodes of the BBC show, and was loved by fans after it was revealed she was "terrified of cars".

Speaking to The Express, Mindy said: "This is a gap that can never be filled – a woolly bear whose hugs can never be replaced. Our darling TG is with us no more.

"I have owned many dogs and loved them all, but none have I ever loved like TG."

She added: "After Richard had his accident TG was with him when he was recovering, always desperate to lie next to his bed, her tail wagging incessantly and often waking him while he was trying to sleep.

"She couldn't help herself – her joy at being reunited [with him] had to be demonstrated."

TG died last week at the Hammonds' home, aged 11.

Since Hammond and his colleagues Jeremy Clarkson and James May left the BBC and Top Gear, TG had "retired with my humans, the Hammonds and others", according to the bio on her Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Clarkson, Hammond and May moved to Amazon Prime to host their new car show The Grand Tour.
