If you’re looking for a great deal on a smart TV, cast your peepers in the direction of JVC’s 39-inch Smart TV.
The deal is eye-catching, not least because 39-inch TVs are not only common. The screen size has obvious appeal if you want a new telly for the bedroom or second room, or simply want a smaller option centre stage.
The LT-39C3210 is HD Ready, also known as 720p, rather than Full HD or 4k UHD, but it’s still HDR compatible, so you can expect to see more depth and brighter highlights from HDR content. The screen uses Micro Dimming backlight technology to enhance contrast.
It looks the part, with a clean design, and is just 16.5cm deep.

This JVC boasts a Freeview Play tuner, which means you’ll never be more than a couple of clicks away from a catch-up TV player (BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, My5, UKTV Play), or free to watch box set, and there’s a limited but welcome collection of streaming services on tap, including Netflix, Prime Video, and Britbox.
The set also works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, for voice control. You can turn it on and switch channels via simple voice commands.
There are three HDMI inputs provided, enough for a set top box, games console and disc player.
Helping the set’s audio system along is DTS Virtual:X processing, which creates a wider soundstage. At this screen size, where cabinet space is at a premium, every little helps. If the set is being deployed in the living room for everyday duties, I’d probably budget for a small soundbar. If it’s a second screen, I probably wouldn’t bother.
If you’d prefer to shave inches and save pounds, this model is available in 32-inch guise, £179 at Currys, down from £249.99.
The smaller JVC Smart TV shares the same smart functionality, including catch-up TV and streaming services, but only has two HDMI inputs. Like its stablemate, it’s an HD Ready (720p) model.
