Top Secret’s incredible V12 Toyota Supra heads to auction

A modified Toyota Supra on sale wouldn't normally make for a great headline, but this effort by Japanese tuner Top Secret is quite the exception.

Gone is the original, legendary six-cylinder 2JZ motor from the base car and in its place, sits a 5.0-litre V12 taken from Toyota's Japan-only Century limousine. In its base form, that would be good for 272bhp — but that's not the case here.

Thanks to the addition of a twin turbocharger kit, stronger engine internals and a nitrous oxide system, power is claimed at 930bhp, heading to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Full performance figures have not been revealed, but this Supra has hit 222.6mph at Italy's Nardo test track.

Aside from the performance overhaul, the next biggest change to the Japanese sports car is a body kit that almost makes it unrecognisable as a Supra — although the iconic rear lights are a dead giveaway to the base machine.

It's all part of Top Secret's style. If you've never heard of it, it's known among the tuning industry for going completely over-the-top with their creations, as well as proving their worth in several Japanese competitions including D1GP professional drifting and illegal 'Wangan' high speed runs — which take place on a public Japanese highway.

Interested? Well, the V12 Supra is heading to auction at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon, offered by BH Auction. No price estimation has been given, but expect it sell for crazy yen when it goes under the hammer on January 12.
