Tornado Touches Down in Southwest Michigan

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for four counties following severe weather in southwest Michigan on Tuesday, May 7.

The Michigan Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MichEMHS) and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) started the cleanup process on Wednesday, May 8.

Footage filmed by Jason Donald Patnoude in Colon shows a tornado forming before splitting into three smaller funnels. Large hailstones and loud thunder can also be seen and heard in the video.
