A car park in Torquay is closed due to potential structural defects. Torbay Council said inspection work is taking place at Harbour Car Park.

It is set to remain closed at both the Montpellier Road and Museum Road entrances until Monday (June 17). Drivers have been advised to use other local car parks at Meadfoot Road and Beacon Quay.

The council said permits for Harbour Car Park will be honoured at both locations. Meanwhile, parking for Premier Inn customers remains unaffected.

Torbay Council said: "Please be aware that Harbour Car Park, Torquay remains closed. The closure, including both Montpellier Road and Museum Road entrances, is in place to allow an inspection of potential defects in the car park structure.

"Customers are advised to park in alternative local car parks at Meadfoot Road and Beacon Quay. The top level of Beacon Quay is reserved for sailing event vehicles at present. Fleet Walk pay on exit car park and the Torquay Marina car park are also available."

They added: "We appreciate the patience of all car park users and local businesses whilst the essential inspection is carried out."
