Tottenham make most of Wembley factor as they climb rich list with £305m revenue

Tottenham are already benefiting financially from playing at Wembley after they were named as the 11th richest club in the world.

Spurs moved up one place in the latest Football Money League, published annually by Deloitte, with revenue up by £96.4million to £305.6m last season.

The north Londoners were helped by their highest-ever Premier League finish of second, as well as participation in the Champions League group stage for the first time since 2010.

Although Spurs won just one of their four European matches at Wembley, the move boosted their matchday income, while they also benefited from the new League-wide TV deals.

The full-time move to the 90,000-seater national stadium for this season is expected to increase revenue again, while a more lucrative multi-year kit deal with Nike — worth around £25m per season — will also boost coffers.

Spurs could leapfrog Juventus into the top 10 on next year’s list, depending on which team wins their upcoming Champions League last-16 tie. Spurs, though, are currently fifth in the League and in danger of missing out on the Champions League ahead of next season’s move to their new 61,559-capacity stadium.

FA Cup winners Arsenal went above Paris St-Germain into sixth spot, posting record revenues of £419m, but their absence from the Champions League for the first time in 20 years could impact next year’s figures.

Chelsea remained in eighth place, although revenues shrunk by £17.1m to £367.8m due to the club’s absence from last season’s Champions League. West Ham moved up one place to 17th.
