New Tottenham transfer update shared on Leeds United starlet Archie Gray details medical hope

Archie Gray's proposed move to Tottenham is edging ever closer. That is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano as Leeds United face up to losing one of their prized assets.

Spurs stepped up their interest in Gray over the weekend after the Whites turned down a £40m offer from Brentford for the midfielder. Romano has posted an update on the Premier League side's pursuit of Gray on social media platform X. He wrote: "Understand Tottenham are advancing on Archie Gray deal, negotiations progressing.

"Spurs are optimistic on personal terms after positive talks with player’s camp, player open to the move. Tottenham hope to reach total agreement and book medical soon."

Gray has many admirers in the top flight following a stellar breakthrough campaign at Elland Road. The 18-year-old racked up 52 appearances across all competitions, featuring in midfield and at right-back, as the Whites reached the Championship play-off final. Southampton pipped United to the final promotion spot, winning 1-0 at Wembley.

Gray, the great nephew of the still-adored former Whites player and manager Eddie Gray, is thought to have been extensively scouted by a number of clubs across Europe. Liverpool and Chelsea and are also believed to be interested in the West Yorkshire club's academy graduate.

Gray first featured in United's first-team squad three months before his 16th birthday when he was named on the bench for a Premier League fixture with Arsenal in December 2021. The Whites tied Gray down to a new long-term contract earlier this year.
