TOWIE star Mark Wright's grandfather Eddie Wright has ended up in hospital, with the family having been met with well wishes over the news this weekend. Eddie, 91, is said to have experienced a fall recently, prompting hospitalisation.

The news was shared by his son Mark Wright Snr., 67, and prompted reaction from three of his children, who include presenter Mark Jr., 37. Mark Snr. shared the news with fans on Instagram this week in a post that marked Father's Day on Sunday, The Mirror reports.

He posted a photo of Eddie sat in a vehicle and wrote in the accompanying caption that he was in hospital at the moment. He wrote: "Happy Father's Day to the best - unfortunately in hospital at the moment after a fall a couple of days ago, but dad I'm on my way up to see you now."

Mark Snr. concluded with a message for Eddie, telling him to "keep strong". The post prompted reaction from some of Mark snr's children, including his Jess Wright, 38. Alongside a heart emoji, she reacted: "The best there is." Younger sibling Natalya Wright, 23, instead shared a heart emoji.

They weren't the only relatives to have responded to the news. Sadie Stuart Wright, the wife of Mark Jr.'s cousin Elliott Wright, posted emojis depicting praying hands and a heart. And although Mark Jr. doesn't appear to have commented, he has liked the post shared by his father.

Mark Snr.'s followers took to the comments section to express well wishes this weekend. One person wrote: "Oh no. I wish him a speedy recovery." Whilst someone else wrote: "Sorry to hear this. Hope Eddie gets better very soon."

Sharing their thoughts, a third person wrote: "A lovely man with the most warming smile - get well soon." Another said: "Wishing Eddie a speedy recovery." Expressing the same sentiment, one follower reacted: "Wish him well mate."

Mark - who's understood to have travelled to Germany with pal Olly Murs to watch England's football team play in the Euros on Sunday - has previously paid tribute to his grandfather. He once spoke about his whilst on This Morning.

During an appearance on the ITV show in 2019, Mark said: "He's done so much for our family, my granddad, all our lives. Like he's our king." He further commented: "To us, he's the best granddad you could ever have."

The former the Only Way is Essex cast member's remarks came as he discussed them having been on BBC ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are? together. Teasing that they had found out about their heritage, he added: "It's hard to repay him for how much he's done. And this was that moment where I could say, y'know before it's too late, I've been able to give this back."
