Traffic at a standstill on A12 in Colchester after car is 'overturned' in crash

UPDATE: The A12 near Colchester between J28 and J27 has now been cleared. 

A statement by Essex Travels News has said that Londonbound A12 was clear from 4pm after an earlier accident at about 11.40am.

Traffic was at a standstill on the A12 in Colchester after a crash has seen a car overturn between  Junction 27 at the Avenue of Remembrance Roundabout and Junction 28 for the Colchester United stadium.

AA Traffic reported a car being overturned in a crash.

Congestion also was seen backing up onto the slip road and Via Urbis Romanae, with traffic previously being very slow around the Northern Gateway development.

In response to this article an East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called just before 12.30pm with reports of a road traffic collision on the A12 between junctions 28 and 27 involving a single vehicle.

“An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene. One patient, an adult male, was transported to Colchester Hospital for further care.”
