Yahoo News Tragedy as person dies after emergency services called to 'casualty on tracks'
A person has died after emergency services were alerted to a "casualty on the tracks" in Norton.
Police and ambulance teams were called to the railway line near Station Road after an incident on Sunday at around 9.30am.
Several trains were delayed while 999 crews responded to the incident, while Station Road was reportedly closed off by police.
British Transport Police has now confirmed that a person was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries to establish the circumstances leading up to their death are now ongoing.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident at Station Road in Norton, Stockton today (30 June) at 9:38am.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew, one rapid response crew, one duty officer, one specialist paramedic and two HART crews (Hazardous Area Response Team) to the incident."
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "At approximately 09:30 on 30 June, officers were called to the line near Billingham to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries to establish the circumstances leading up to their death are ongoing.”
