Train station cordoned off by police - here's why

A woman suffered a fractured nose and cuts during an assault outside Carpenders Park station last night.

Residents questioned online why the stairs and ramp to the Carpenders Park London Overground station near Watford were blocked off until 7am today.

Police confirmed a teenage boy has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident that happened around 10.30pm.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers received reports of an assault that took place at around 10.30pm last night (June 25) at Carpenders Park railway station that left an adult woman with a fractured nose and a cut requiring stitches.

The ramp and stairs to the station were taped off until early this morning.

“Officers attended and a cordon was put in place to preserve the scene.

"A teenage boy was arrested this afternoon (June 26) in connection on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.”

Police confirmed the victim was taken to hospital for treatment, but declined to comment on whether the woman and teen were known to each other.
