Train from Warsaw to Berlin evacuated in western Poland after bomb threat

A train travelling from Warsaw to Berlin has been evacuated after Polish authorities received a bomb threat, according to reports.

Poland’s state news agency said the train stopped at Mogilno station in western Poland on Wednesday evening.

Passengers were ordered off the train and residents in nearby buildings were also told to leave the area to allow bomb disposal experts to carry out an inspection.

Polish media said around 600 were caught up in the bomb scare after police received an email suggesting a device had been placed in one of the carriages.

Sniffer dogs and firefighters are also at the scene, an hour east of the city of Poznan, by train.

Marta Ziemska, a spokeswoman for Polish train operator PKP, said: “We have received information about potentially explosive materials on the train.

“We acted accordingly to the procedures, stopped the train and evacuated the passengers.

“They are safe in one of the schools, and are under the watch of the authorities. We are preparing food for them."
