Transfer news, rumours LIVE: Pochettino hints at Bale Spurs return, Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool latest

Welcome to the Evening Standard’s LIVE coverage of the summer transfer window, where today it's been all about Gareth Bale.

Zinedine Zidane has revealed that Bale did not play against Bayern Munich in Houston because the Real Madrid forward is "very close" to leaving the club, but did not confirm which team the Welsh winger is moving to.

That revelation lead to Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, labelling Zidane a ‘disgrace’ for the treatment of his client by the Real Madrid boss.

Cue mass speculation over where he may go next.

That conversation travelled all the way from the States to Singapore where, following Tottenham’s victory over Juventus, Mauricio Pochettino was quizzed about a possible Spurs return for Bale.

And he hardly ruled it out.
