Triple Killer Joanne Dennehy Being Sentenced

Triple killer Joanne Dennehy is being sentenced for murdering three men "for fun" before dumping their bodies in ditches.

The 31-year-old, who pleaded guilty to murdering the men and attempting to kill two others, will be jailed for life by a judge at the Old Bailey.

Mr Justice Spencer will also declare a minimum term she will serve.

The killings took place in and around Peterborough during a 10-day period last March and April.

Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, Kevin Lee, 48, and John Chapman, 56, all died from multiple stab wounds.

Dennehy then stabbed two dog walkers, John Rogers and Robin Bereza, who she selected at random in Hereford while on the run from police.

In the same court where the Woolwich murderers were sentenced this week, Mr Justice Spencer described Dennehy's crimes as "terribly serious offences".

The court has heard that Dennehy attempted to murder Mr Rogers because she wanted his dog.

The killer is surrounded by nine guards in the courtroom and has two sets of handcuffs on her tattooed arms - one set attached to an officer.

She has smiled through much of the hearing and has chatted to the officers accompanying her.

Dennehy, of Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, could be handed a whole-life tariff.

Her appearance was delayed pending a review of whole-life tariffs after the European Court of Human Rights ruled they breached human rights.

However, earlier this month the Court of Appeal told UK judges they could continue to be imposed.

Dennehy's accomplices, Gary Stretch and Leslie Layton, are also being sentenced, as well as a third man, Robert Moore.

During the trial of Stretch and Layton, prosecutors said Dennehy "cast a spell" over her accomplices and some of her victims as she killed "for fun".

The murderer was likened to "Uma Thurman from Kill Bill and the woman from the Terminator" by father-of-two Mr Lee shortly before his death.

During the manhunt Dennehy bragged to one witness that she had killed eight people - although no further murders have been detected.
