Trump blasts ‘failing media’ at 100-day rally in Pennsylvania

US President Donald Trump chose to celebrate his first 100 days in office in Pennsylvania surrounded by cheering supporters and skipping the traditional press dinner. He is the first president to skip the White House Correspondents’ Dinner since Ronald Reagan in 1981. He chose not to attend because of what he said was unfair treatment by the press. “We would all agree the media deserves a very, very big fat failing grade (...) By contrast, for the last 100 days my administration has been delivering every single day for the great citizens of our country,” Trump announced. He also listed what he considered his main achievements, including scrapping environmental protections, while climate activists marched on Washington. “Our government rushed to join international agreements where the United States pays the costs and bears the burdens while other countries get the benefit and pay nothing. This includes deals like the one-sided Paris Climate Accord,” Trump told the audience. He blamed the Democrats for a failure to push through other campaign pledges such as repealing Obamacare, a travel ban and a border wall with Mexico, telling the crowd that he his promises would be kept eventually.
