President Donald Trump has today made his first public comments on the suspected Russian hack cyberattack on the US. Mr Trump has claimed the massive cyber hack that took place was being exaggerated by the media while putting blame on China, despite his secretary of state saying the attack likely came from Russia.

He tweeted: “The Cyber Hack is far greater in the Fake News Media than in actuality,” the president wrote in a tweet on Thursday, adding: “I have been fully briefed and everything is well under control.”

Meanwhile, Mike Pompeo has claimed that Russia carried out the cyberattack that targeted a number of federal agencies, including the nuclear weapons agency.

The onslaught, that began in March, was "pretty clearly" linked to Russia, the Secretary of State said in a interview on the Mark Levin Show.

Mr Pompeo’s sentiments were echoed by Senator Marco Rubio who said the US will retaliate after a huge ongoing cyberattack against a number of government agencies. The Republican Senator on Friday tweeted: “the methods used to carry out the cyberhack are consistent with Russian cyber operations.” He added that the US must retaliate “not just with sanctions.”

The 2020 election remained on the mind of Mr Trump throughout the day on Saturday, as he tweeted multiple times about massive voter fraud conspiracy theories. One tweet claimed Joe Biden’s win was the ‘biggest lie’ of the year.

Mr Biden has largely ignored the sitting presidents claims and moved forward with building his incoming administration. On Saturday, he introduced key Cabinet nominees and members of his environment team to the public while boast about the diversity in his administration.

"The Biden-Harris cabinet … it will be historic," Mr Biden said. "The cabinet that looks like America, that taps into the best of America."
