TUI and Easyjet warn UK passengers to arrive 'even earlier' before flight

TUI and Easyjet have warned UK passengers to arrive EVEN EARLIER this summer. EasyJet and TUI have encouraged their passengers to arrive at Birmingham Airport three hours before their scheduled departure time at the transport hub.

"Birmingham Airport is getting a face lift, with a new £50 million security area being built to improve the airport experience," TUI said. "We’d like to remind you to arrive at the airport with sufficient time before your flight.

"At the moment, we’re recommending giving yourself three hours for flights to Europe and Africa, and four hours for long-haul flights. That way, you’ll have plenty of time to check in your luggage and make your way through the security queues.

"Arriving any earlier than this won’t mean you can check in or pass through security early. Together with Birmingham Airport, we’re doing our best to make sure the facelift has the littlest effect as you pass through the airport. At the same time, we’re excited to be working behind the scenes to improve your future experience."

Meanwhile, in a post on X, easyJet added: "We recommend arriving at the airport 3 hours or at least 2 hours before your flight to account for potential delays and facilitate check-in." Today, holidaymakers were seen trapped in queues for hours as new rules for carrying liquids has sparked confusion amongst passengers.

Images taken at Brimingham Airport this morning show huge queues to reach security from outside the terminal, as holiday makers battled with building work and a change to hand luggage liquids rules. Birmingham Airport spent £60m to upgrade its security desks and introduce hi-tech scanners known as Next Generation Security Checkpoints (NGSC).

Birmingham Airport's boss Nick Barton said: "A non-compliant bag with liquids over 100ml can add up to 20 minutes to each passenger's journey through security."
