The Lib Dems have taken control of Tunbridge Wells District Council after winning 22 out of a possible 39 seats in the 2024 Local Elections.

Across Tunbridge Wells voters went to the polls on Thursday (May 2) in order to cast their votes to fill every seat on the council.

Due to boundary changes, every seat on Tunbridge Wells Borough Council was being contested. The number of councillors has been reduced by nine, from 48 to 39, with each of the 14 wards in the borough electing between one and three members depending on population size.

Before the boundary changes the council was in "No Overall Control". The Lib Dems were the largest party with 17 seats and the remaining seats were held by 11 Conservatives, nine Tunbridge Wells Alliance councillors, seven Labour councillors, two Independents for Tunbridge Wells and two unaligned independents. 20 seats were required for any party to have a majority.
