The coronavirus pandemic has caused worldwide disruption, with multiple ar across the globe on lockdown in a bid to prevent the deadly virus spreading.

The measures being put in place have seen sporting events, movie premieres and award ceremonies put on hold until further notice.

Television shows have also found themselves majorly disrupted, with scripts having to be rewritten, audience participation scrapped, and grand finales cancelled.

As the coronavirus outbreak continues, the Evening Standard has put together a comprehensive (and ever-updating) list of television shows that have been shelved or rescheduled following the outbreak.

The Apprentice

Usually filmed in London over the summer, filming on the latest series was reportedly scrapped due to virus fears - which could result in The Apprentice not being aired until 2021.

A BBC spokesman told The Sun Online: "In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, Boundless the producers of The Apprentice, have postponed filming in consultation with and supported by the BBC.

"We will continue to review all productions on a case by case basis and will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the Foreign Office, World Health Organisation and Public Health England."

The hugely popular drama series has postponed filming for its upcoming tenth series, as well as its crowd-pleasing Christmas specials.

The show’s executive producer Dame Pippa Harris said: “Our priority is the safety of our amazing cast and crew, and we don’t believe that shooting in the current time is feasible or responsible.”

EastEnders, Holby City and Casualty

Production on the nation’s most-watched soap, as well as BBC Studios productions such as Doctors, Casualty, Holby City, Pobol y Cwm and River City has been suspended.

The corporation said: “In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice.

“We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible.”

EastEnders will now air on Monday and Tuesdays on BBC One, with alternative programming filling the space

RuPaul's Drag Race UK

The highly-anticipated second series of the smash hit BBC Three show has been postponed, with filming having begun earlier this month.

“Drag Race was being filmed at Pinewood Studios and was well underway but with everything happening at the moment they had to pull the plug,” an insider told The Sun.

"There were contestants on set, as well as talent and the production team and it was deemed far too risky.

"At the moment the plug has been pulled completely on the show and as it stands, the second series of Drag Race is on hold.

"It's awful for everyone involved, people aren't working and the studios are empty. But obviously the health of everyone on the show comes first."

Little Mix: The Search

The brand new talent contest, which sees former X Factor winners Little Mix put together a new pop band, has had its live shows postponed for the foreseeable future.

Rehearsals have already been filmed, however, the live shows were set to be in front of a studio audience.

“The plan was to air four live shows every Saturday night across May,” an insider told The Sun.

“But because these would be filmed in front of a live studio audience,

they’ve had to pull the plug because of coronavirus.

“It’s a really frustrating time for the group but they know there’s nothing that can be done.”

The multi-award winning show was filming auditions for its 14th series in January, but while the early stages of the competition are pre-recorded, the show runs into trouble when it comes to the live stages.

The audition stages are expected to be broadcast as scheduled over the next few weeks.

A statement from ITV added: "We are also working with our production colleagues to see how we can make the BGT live shows work in an ever changing situation and we will update on this in due course."

The Voice UK

While coaches search for the next big pop star (or at least a halfway decent singer) has been continuing as normal on ITV, The Voice UK has now suspended its live shows which are usually filmed in front of a live audience.

The semi-finals (set to air on 28th March) and the grand final (set to air on the 4th March) will now be shown later in the year.

Instead, two clip-based specials will fill these slots.

“We have taken the difficult decision to postpone The Voice UK semi-final and final until later this year,” a spokesperson from ITV told the Evening Standard.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and announce a new date for these shows

TOWIE Tenerife special

The reality series is no stranger to seeing its stars jet off to luxury locations for spin-off specials for more #dramz. While Marbella and Thailand have been popular locations for our Essex residents to fly off to, its most recent trip to Tenerife for the show’s 10th anniversary has reportedly been shelved.

“Everyone's talking about it - the cast members who were due to go have been told it's not happening now and they're rethinking plans,” an insider told The Sun Online.

"The last thing anyone would want is for them to be in danger and they're following travel advice when filming.

Coronavirus has spread rapidly in Spain, with the UK government advising against all but essential travel.

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway

Later series of the shiny floor show sees hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly give away a ‘Place on The Plane’ to viewers at home and members of the studio audience to join them in their live finale which is filmed in the US.

This year, the show’s final episode was scheduled to be filmed in Disneyworld Florida, which has since announced it will be closing its doors until the end of March after it was confirmed that the USA had over 1600 cases of the deadly disease, as part of Saturday Night Takeaway's Place on the Place' competition.

However, the spread of coronavirus in the US has seen the final now scrapped, with Takeaway now going ahead without a studio audience whatsoever

ITV will also still honour the prizes given away on the show.

“If we can't travel as planned, for example, due to a change in the Covid-19 travel advice, all recipients of a ‘Place on the Plane’ prize will have their prizes honoured and flown by Virgin Holidays for a 5-night stay at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida at such later date when it is practical for Virgin Holidays and Walt Disney World Resort to fulfil the prize,” they explained in a statement.

“We have contingencies in place for all eventualities based on any evolving situations.”

Coronation Street and Emmerdale

The ongoing coronavirus outbreak has now seen ITV strip back the output of episodes for both Emmerdale and Corrie.

While both shows are still in production, chiefs at the channel decided to limit each soap’s output in case the crisis worsens over the coming weeks.

Emmerdale will now air Monday to Friday at 7pm, while Coronation Street will air one episode on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays as opposed to two.

A spokesperson for the channel told the Evening Standard: “With this change of transmission pattern it will ensure we have great new soap episodes coming to air every weekday night until at least the early summer.

Love Island

The summer series of the hugely popular ITV2 reality show is set to be at risk during the coronavirus pandemic.

Having filmed its first winter series out in Cape Town, South Africa, Love Island was due to return to its home as the seventh series was scheduled to kick off in June.

There are currently 26 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Balearic Islands, with the Sun Online reporting that a number of hotels on the island are expected to stay closed until June.

ITV did not respond to the Evening Standard’s request for comment.

Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards

Having previously been scheduled for Sunday 22nd March in Los Angeles, Nickelodeon has since confirmed that the ceremony has been put on hold.

“The consideration of the safety and well-being of every person involved with the show is our top priority,” they said in a statement. “We will have further information about a new date in the future.”

The Grand Tour

Filming for Amazon Prime’s car show has been put on hold, host Jeremy Clarkson confirmed on Twitter.

After a fan tweeted the 59-year-old saying the streaming service “wouldn’t be worth it” without the programme, Clarkson said: “We have one pretty much ready to go and when this virus business is settled, we will head off to do two more.”

Celebrity Race Across The World

The all-star version of the surprise BBC Two hit has been delayed for the time being, with the BBC explaining in a statement: “Celebrity Race Across the World involves contestants travelling across a number of different countries, and given that official advice in relation to specific countries is continually changing in line with the spread of Covid-19, Studio Lambert has decided to delay production on this series in consultation with and supported by the BBC.

“We will continue to review all productions on a case by case basis following the latest news and advice from the Foreign Office, World Health Organisation and Public Health England.”

How to Spend It Well on Holiday

Phillip Schofield’s popular money saving format, originally scheduled to debut on 5th March, has been pulled from the schedules after the UK experienced a sharp rise in coronavirus cases.

ITV told the Evening Standard in a statement: "To reflect the latest situation on travelling abroad at this time, this series has been postponed for now and will be screened later in the year."

Riverdale

The popular Netflix teen drama has seen production suspended by Warner Bros after it was reported that someone who worked on the programme had been in contact with an individual who had tested positive for coronavirus. It is currently not clear whether this person was part of the cast or on the production team.

The rapid spread of coronavirus in America and Canada has seen Netflix cancel all shows currently under production, including popular series such as Stranger Things, Russian Doll and Grace and Frankie.

In a similar vein, the second series of Apple’s original drama, starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Reese Witherspoon has also seen production suspended.

Grey’s Anatomy

American network ABC has shut down production on the hospital drama, with executive producers reportedly looking to reassess the situation in the next two weeks - however, with the worsening situation in the States, it is looking increasingly unlikely filming will resume any time soon.

Chat shows and panel shows

Several American talk shows have now been taping their programmes without the live audience. However, production on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Wendy Williams Show has been suspended entirely.

Back in the UK, shows such as Loose Women and Question Time are continuing without a studio audience, with the latter now relying on social media and viewers to send questions in remotely.
