Mayfair Witches

9pm, BBC Two

After the recent Interview With the Vampire adaptation, here’s another supernatural thriller based on novelist Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe series. Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus) is ambitious neurosurgeon Rowan Fielding, who – after wondering if she can kill people with her mind – learns she’s an heiress to a dynasty of powerful witches haunted by a sinister spirit. It’s been panned by US audiences but the silly, witchy intrigue is undeniable. Hollie Richardson

MasterChef: The Professionals

8pm, BBC One

The renowned Midland Grand dining room in London’s St Pancras Renaissance hotel makes a suitably imposing setting for this finals week challenge: cook for the UK’s top chefs, representing a combined 22 Michelin stars. Then, back in the MasterChef kitchen, the final four must prepare a dish inspired by “home”. Inevitably, Gregg will be brought to tears, but by who? Ellen E Jones

The Secret Genius of Modern Life

8pm, BBC Two

Second world war radar tech, a 19th-century physics experiment – it’s all part of the story of the microwave you bunged that ready meal in last night (or “mee-crow-wah-vay” if you’re Nigella Lawson). Prof Hannah Fry’s deep dive into the machine starts in Cardiff. HR

Shetland

9pm, BBC One

A solid season finale, full of those moments where either Tosh (Alison O’Donnell) or Ruth (Ashley Jensen) has a sudden realisation before shooting their partner a meaningful look then driving off at speed. After long-hidden family secrets spill out and interrogations bear fruit, the concluding whodunnit explanation isn’t particularly memorable, but the two detectives look like a workable team here to stay. Such Brave Girls

10pm, BBC Three

More wince-in-your seat comedy from sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. After visiting their dying gran in hospital, Josie has an existential crisis – and her sap boyfriend Seb moving in is the final straw. Heading on a night out with Billie and a bag of drugs is the ideal remedy to her woes … right? HR

The Lazarus Project

10pm, Sky Max

When we last saw our stroppy cops they were in a time-travelling jet falling out of the sky. The good news? They survived (mostly). The bad news? They have zapped back to a year that was already riddled with time resets. Perhaps they could get things sorted more quickly if they stopped messing around with their past selves. Graeme Virtue
