TVLine Items: Kandi Burruss Joins Reasonable Doubt, Riz Ahmed’s Amazon Comedy and More

The Chi’s Kandi Burruss has found Reasonable Doubt with a recurring role on Season 2 of the Hulu drama, it was announced on Thursday. Additionally, the streamer unveiled a first look at the actress alongside star Emayatzy Corinealdi and new series regular Morris Chestnut.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta vet will play Eboni Phillips, who is the mother of JT’s child, Natasha. “She was wild in a former life but has since cleaned herself up,” per the official description.

In Season 2 (premiering Thursday, August 22), “after trying to heal from her wounds from last season’s arduous trial and deadly affair, Jax Stewart is attempting to get her life back on track,” reads the official synopsis. “That is until one of her closest friends reveals that she has killed her husband. * Prime Video has ordered an untitled comedy series produced, written by and starring Riz Ahmed (The Night Of), who will showrun alongside Ben Karlin (Modern Family). The show centers around Shah Latif, “a struggling actor on the cusp of landing the role of a lifetime, only to find himself thrust into a full blown existential crisis and trippy conspiracy thriller all at the same time,” reads the official synopsis.

* Michael Chernus (Severance, Dead Ringers) has landed the lead role in Peacock’s forthcoming limited series Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, playing one of America’s most notorious serial killers.

* Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years Season 2 will premiere with all 13 episodes on Wednesday, July 10 on Paramount+.

* Billie Boullet (A Small Light) has joined Netflix’s upcoming drama Man on Fire, adapted from A.J. Quinnell’s book series by Kyle Killen (Halo, Awake). The show follows John Creasy (Watchmen’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll), a Special Forces Mercenary who is now plagued with intense PTSD. Boullet will play Poe Rayburn, who learns that her only ally is John Creasy after she is the only witness to a terrifying event.

* Season 2 of the Australian crime series Troppo, starring Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun, will premiere with all eight episodes on Thursday, July 25 on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee; watch a trailer:
