TVLine Items: Vox Machina Release Date, True Detective Actor Joins Criminal and More

It’s time for Vox Machina to assemble once more.

Prime Video announced on Friday that the adult animated fantasy-adventure series The Legend of Vox Machina, hailing from Critical Role and Titmouse, will return for Season 3 on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Featuring a new title sequence — which you can check out above — the 12-episode installment will debut three new episodes each week.

In Season 3, the Chroma Conclave’s path of destruction has spread like wildfire while the Cinder King hunts down Vox Machina. The misfit crew must “rise above inner (and outer) demons to try and save their loved ones, Tal’Dorei, and all of Exandria,” per the official synopsis.

Ready for some more recent newsy nuggets? Well…

*  True Detective’s John Hawkes will recur in Prime Video’s Criminal, based on the graphic novels by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillip, Deadline reports. Previously announced cast includes Logan Browning (Dear White People), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Kadeem Hardison (Teenage Bounty Hunters, A Different World), Adria Arjona (Hit Man, Andor) and Richard Jenkins (Monster, Six Feet Under).

* Season 2 of Gremlins‘ animated prequel will be titled “The Wild Batch.” The new season (which will drop sometime this fall on Max) follows Gizmo, Sam, and Elle as they travel from their home in Shanghai to San Francisco, “bringing even more magic, mystery and Mogwai mayhem.”

* Acorn TV and production partner CJZ have renewed the mystery drama Darby and Joan for Season 2.

* Dorian Missick and Karla Souza will star opposite Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia in the Prime Video thriller Obsession, per Deadline.
