It's only a matter of days until the second part of The Walking Dead's eighth season begins, and there are a few things that are still up in the air.

But not, it seems, for much longer.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the show's upcoming instalment, Norman Reedus – aka Daryl Dixon – suggested that the war between the survivors and Negan and the Saviors could soon be drawing to a close.

Promising "resolution" in the final eight episodes of the season, Reedus said that TWD will 'tie up' loose ends.

"There's a lot of closure coming in the back eight, which is great," he explained, before going on to hint at not just closure, but "closure in several different avenues".

"There's been all this action and all the fighting and all these different factions that have been splitting off in these different directions, and it all kind of comes together in the end with closure in several different avenues," he said.

Of course, nothing has ever really been that straightforward for the citizens of Alexandria – and it doesn't sound like that's going to change anytime soon.

"Some wrap up the way you think. Some wrap up not the way you think. It's all kind of a surprise where it all comes from," Norman added.

One thing that Walking Dead fans will be hoping for in particular is some closure regarding Maggie, whose future in the series is looking more and more uncertain.

Following rumours that Maggie actress Lauren Cohan is unhappy with her salary, showrunner Scott Gimple has since admitted that there is a possibility her character will be written out.

"These things do happen in TV, but we're talking. Lauren is an actor who has such intuition and such power. Hopefully, it all works out," he said.

The Walking Dead is due to return for the second half of its eighth season on Sunday, February 25 in the US on AMC. It'll be back on Monday, February 26 in the UK on FOX UK and NOW TV.
