Yahoo News TWD creator explains why there'll never be a cure
While it would be nice for a cure for walkers to be unleashed on The Walking Dead, it would probably undermine the entire aesthetic of the show.
Creator Robert Kirkman suggested as much after being pressed by a fan at Comic-Con as to whether a character will ever be immune, or whether they will start to look for a cure.
"When we get questions like these, we like to not be as definitive as possible, because we don't want to reveal anything," he answered. "But the answers are 'no' and 'no'.

"On one, because it's been done on a lot of other zombie stories. And two, because you know it's kind of a mythology-breaking proposition.
"You don't want that kind of thing as far as somebody being immune. And we have dabbled in that a little bit in the other show [Fear the Walking Dead]."
Kirkman continued: "But as far as actually trying to solve the thing, I've always thought that one of the best things about this show is that it's not about scientists and it's not about people that would take that on as a task, because I feel like that's unrelatable.
"I think if there were a zombie apocalypse, I don't know that there's maybe five people in this room that would have that job."
He also noted that the focus of the show is "about people and their struggles to survive".
"To go off and try to solve this would be a boring show, so definitely not," he added. "But it's a good question."
One thing the show's makers were open to during the panel was the idea of the narrative heading around the globe, with showrunner Scott Gimple suggesting it was "entirely possible that that could happen".
"I'm going to continue to give a long, ambiguous answer on that, but I would say it's something," he added. "I'd say it's something."
The Walking Dead will air its 100th episode this autumn on AMC in the US and FOX in the UK.
