Razzies: Twilight Named Worst Film Of 2012

Hours before Hollywood celebrates the top cinematic achievements at the Academy Awards, another group has thumbed its nose at what it says was the worst in film in 2012.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part Two took the top, or bottom, depending on how you look at it, honours for worst film of the year at the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation's 33rd annual Oscars-eve roast.

The final feature film instalment of the teen vampire franchise had what Razzie organisers called a "craptastic 11 nominations" in 10 different categories.

It dominated the evening, taking home seven statuettes including those for worst actress (Kristen Stewart), worst supporting actor (Taylor Lautner), worst screen couple (Taylor Lautner and Mackenzie Foy), worst director (Bill Condon), worst screen ensemble (the entire cast) and worst remake, rip-off or sequel.

Rounding out the categories was Adam Sandler as worst actor for his role in the comedy That's My Boy. Rihanna won worst supporting actress for Battleship and That's My Boy took the honour for worst screenplay.

Other nominees deemed not quite as bad included Tyler Perry, who was nominated both as worst actor and as worst actress, for his cross-dressing role in Madea's Witness Protection.

Another near-loser was the children's film The Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure, which is widely considered to be one of the biggest flops in Hollywood history.

Within days of its release in 2,000 cinemas throughout the US, the £13m movie averaged just £31 per theatre in receipts.

The Razzies, a send-up of Hollywood's reverent awards shows, have been presenting the top "dishonours" in film since 1980, bestowing what its organisers call "Tinseltown's tackiest trophies".
