Yahoo News ‘Twisted Metal’ Season 2 Casts ‘Barry’ Star Anthony Carrigan as Calypso (EXCLUSIVE)
Anthony Carrigan is joining the cast of Peacock’s “Twisted Metal” as a Season 2 regular.
He will play Calypso, a character from the “Twisted Metal” video games who is described as “the mysterious, charismatic host and creator of a dangerous demolition derby tournament, who invites all assassins, vigilantes, mercenaries and joyriders to participate. To the winner, he offers the prize of making their greatest wish come true, but with Calypso there’s always a twist.”

Also joining the cast of the action comedy series are Richard de Klerk (“A Teenage Prophet,” “Strange Empire”), Patty Guggenheim (“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” “Florida Girls”), and Tiana Okoye (“Panhandle,” “Mrs. Davis”) in recurring guest roles with details yet to come.
Carrigan is best known for playing NoHo Hank in “Barry,” which ran on HBO for four seasons from 2018 to 2023 and earned him three Emmy nominations. He will soon appear in A24’s “Death of a Unicorn” and James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film as Metamorpho. He is repped by by CAA, Schlegal Entertainment, and Mitch Smelkinson

Based on the popular PlayStation games, “Twisted Metal” stars Anthony Mackie as John Doe. Season 1 saw the “motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he faces savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.” The cast also includes Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet, Joe Seanoa aka Samoa Joe as the body of Sweet Tooth, Will Arnett as the voice of Sweet Tooth and Thomas Haden Church as Agent Stone.
“Twisted Metal” was developed for television by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who executive produce alongside showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith; Mackie for Make It With Gravy Productions; Arnett and Marc Foreman for Electric Avenue; Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment; Peter Principato for Artists First; Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan for PlayStation Productions; and Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios. Kitao Sakurai directs multiple episodes. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television.
