Two absentees as Hull City players return for pre-season training under Tim Walter

Two senior Hull City players have yet to report back in pre-season training. The Championship club have confirmed that Abdus Omur has been given extended time off due to his international commitments.

The diminutive playmaker, who caught the eye last season, is expected to join up with the rest of the first team squad when they head to his homeland Turkey for a warm-weather training camp later this month. Omur has established himself as a big fans' favourite since arriving from Trabzonspor for an undisclosed fee in the January transfer window, making 11 league starts and five substitute appearances in City colours.

Fellow midfielder Jean Michael Seri was another notable absentee from City's squad in Tim Walter's first training session as Tigers head coach Tim Walter on Monday. Seri is set to report back to City's Cottingham training base later in the week.

Meanwhile, City's Carabao Cup first round clash at home to Sheffield Wednesday will take place on Wednesday 14 August, kick-off 7:45pm. The tie has been arranged for Wednesday due to the Owls playing Plymouth Argyle in their Championship opener at Hillsborough the Sunday before.

The Tigers have not progressed past the first round since 2021. But the East Yorkshire outfit have a strong recent record against Wednesday, winning the last three meetings on home soil. Ozan Tufan bagged a hat-trick as City romped to a 4-2 victory last August.
