A woman was taken to hospital after two air ambulances landed at the scene of an incident in the middle of Devon. The helicopters descended at Exbourne Cross shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, May 14.

A land ambulance was also sent to the incident, along with a doctor from the British Association for Immediate Care (BASICS). A spokesperson for the South West Ambulance Service Trust said one of the air ambulances took the patient to Derriford Hospital.

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust said in an incident report that a woman aged between 18 and 69 years old was taken to hospital by the Eaglescott Helicopter at around 5.13pm. The service's Exeter helicopter also attended the incident, which has been labelled 'medical' on the charity's tracker map.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 17:13hrs on Tuesday 14 May to an incident in Exbourne. We sent one BASICS doctor, two air ambulances and one double-crewed land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital."
