Two-car Edinburgh crash shuts busy road as emergency services race to scene

Edinburgh emergency services have raced to a busy road following a two-car collision involving an ambulance.

The accident is understood to have happened on Riccarton Mains Road on Monday, May 13, with Currie Road closed in both directions. Paramedics were made aware of the collision at around 10.56am with two ambulances being sent to the scene.

It's not yet known whether any injuries have been sustained. Paramedics were still at the scene at around 12.30pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a crash involving two vehicles on Riccarton Mains Road, Currie which happened around 10.50am on Monday, 13 May, 2024. The road was re-opened around 12.25pm."

Edinburgh Travel News alerted motorists of the incident and said: "Bad accident at Riccarton Mains Road, Currie Road closed in both directions from the roundabout to Lanark Road West".

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "“We received a call at 10:56 hours today to attend a two-car road traffic collision on Riccarton Mains Road, Currie. We dispatched two ambulances to the scene.”
