THE POLICE dealt with a series of incidents while undertaking foot patrols in Bournemouth 'crime hot spots'.

Two officers from Bournemouth South's Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were on duty on April 27 as part of the Town Team in Bournemouth Town Centre.

During the patrol, police dealt with a man who was in breach of his anti-social behaviour injunction (ASBI).

An anti-social behaviour injunction is a 'powerful tool' designed to prevent individuals from engaging in crime as ASB.

Police said the man is due to appear in court within the coming months.

Officers also spoke with several businesses in Old Christchurch Road to ensure they had not had any issues and checked that their staff were okay.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Recent national figures on retail crime show the importance of working with our businesses, and the wider Town Team model is working in partnership to tackle these issues."

Police then dealt with a male for riding his moped up a pedestrian zone in Old Christchurch Road.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "It is a pedestrian zone, not a road, and in the interests of safety, we will deal robustly with people we find taking shortcuts across pedestrian areas."

The county force added: "It is probably a good point to mention the road closures that come into force at night around Horseshoe Common and Fir Vale Road – do not drive through them after the closure period as you will be liable for prosecution; these are there to make the area safer at night-time for pedestrians."

Bournemouth South's Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) assisted officers from Bournemouth C squad with the arrest of 2 people for assault and possession of drugs.

They also dealt with several individuals for parking issues, including a couple of coaches on Westover Road.
