A secondary school has warned parents after two students were flashed and a man was seen taking pictures of pupils walking home.

Parents of students at Wildern Secondary School in Hedge End were shocked to find out that a man had flashed two students at a recreation area near to the school shortly after 4.30pm on Tuesday.

In an email sent to parents on Wednesday, assistant headteacher, Miss H Jones, wrote to parents: “It has been reported to us that at the end of the school day yesterday two of our students encountered an adult male who exposed himself to them at Turnpike Way Recreation Ground.”

Turnpike Way Recreation Ground is a park and play field near to Wildern School that is often a popular meeting place for students at the end of the school day.

The assistant headteacher continued: “Police have been made aware and we will work with them to support any further enquiries.

“Please ask your children to be vigilant on the way to and from school and to report anything suspicious to us here at school.”

A day later, it was revealed that a man had also been spotted taking pictures of pupils outside the school gates on the same day.

In another email sent to parents this morning, Miss Jones wrote: “We have also now received reports of an adult male taking photographs of students as they walked home.

“The police have contacted us today to ask that parents call 999 and not 101 if they see anything suspicious.

“Thank you to those of you who shared information with us yesterday. If you have any further information, please do let us know. Thank you in anticipation of your support.”

The spree of incidents sparked concern among parents.

One shocked mum, who has a daughter in year nine, said: "This incident is really concerning. I really fear for the safety of my daughter - she walks to and from school on her own.

“I want to see the school and the police do more. It would be good to see a police presence while students enter and leave school to stop this happening.

“Two separate incidents so close together is seriously worrying.”

Hampshire police said it is not linking the incident to any others and asked the public to report any information to them quoting 44240191011.
