Two men were taken to hospital after being attacked on the Loughborough University campus, Leicestershire Police has said. The two men, aged 47 and 52, were injured in Margaret Keay Road in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 18).

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 4am after it was reported that two men were being “attacked in the street”. Following inquiries, police say it is believed the assault was carried out by two men who were attempting to gain access to a flat.

The two men who were injured are believed to be university security officers. Police said the two mens' injuries were not believed to be life threatening or life changing and that they have since been discharged from hospital.
