Two teenagers stabbed after disorder breaks out near Birmingham city centre

Two teenagers have been stabbed after disorder broke out in Highgate. The emergency services were called to Conybere Street, just after 5pm on Friday (June 28), where they found two injured youths.

One of the victims - a 17-year-old - sustained serious injuries while the 16-year-old suffered a 'light wound', police told BirminghamLive. Both have been taken to hospital.

Police arrested three people on suspicion of assault and possession of offensive weapons. A video circulating on social media showed a police cordon in place near a church.

West Midlands Police said: "We’ve arrested three suspects after two boys were stabbed in disorder on Conybere Street in #Highgate just after 5pm today. The teens were taken to hospital where the 17-year-old has serious injuries which are thankfully not life threatening and the 16-year-old has a superficial injury.

"The three suspects were arrested nearby on suspicion of assault and possession of offensive weapons. "They remain in custody for questioning."
