"Two other boys who were travelling in the same car continue to receive medical care. Our enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing, and we would ask that people do not speculate about what happened; such speculation is both very distressing for the families of those who have died and those who were injured, and can harm the investigation."

Officers were called to the incident involving a grey AUDI and a black Ford Fiesta on Newark Road at 9.41pm on Thursday, June 20. The occupants of the first vehicle sustained minimal injuries.

However, those in the second vehicle were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where 17-year-old Will Ray – who was driving – died. On June 22, police confirmed an 18-year-old man - Eddie Shore - who was a passenger in the black Ford Fiesta had also died.
