UK GAS-Day-ahead price rises on colder weather, curve dips on LNG supplies

Oct (Shenzhen: 000069.SZ - news) 26 (Reuters) - British wholesale day-ahead and weekend gas prices rose on Friday morning with the prospect of colder weather lifting demand, but most prices along the curve dipped on the expectation of increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies.

* Day-ahead gas price up 2.20 pence at 67.20 pence per therm at 0839 GMT

* Weekend gas price up 1.05 p at 67.57 p/therm

* Traders said falling temperatures in Britain had led to increased demand for gas for heating

* Around 80 percent of Britain's homes are heated by gas, meaning temperatures can have a big impact on demand and prices

* Average daily temperatures in Britain are expected at 4.7 degrees Celsius on Monday, down from around 8.3 degrees on Friday, Eikon Refinitiv data shows

* Analysts at Refinitiv forecast day-ahead local distribution zone (LDZ) demand for gas, which is primarily used for heating, up 42 million cubic metres for Monday

* Further out, most contracts fell, which traders said was due to expectations of strong supplies of LNG over the next few months

* Five LNG tankers are scheduled to arrive in Britain in the next few weeks, while deliveries of LNG to northwest Europe are on course to hit a record in October as demand from Asia slows

* Nov contract down 0.15 p at 66.50 p/therm

* Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) contract down 0.57 p at 70.35 p/therm
