UK GAS-Prices rise on cooler weather forecasts

LONDON, April 26 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices rose on Friday morning as forecasts for cooler weather lifted demand.

* Within-day gas price up 1.25 pence at 33.50 pence per therm by 0804 GMT.

* Day-ahead gas price up 1.15 p at 33.75 p/therm.

* Traders said temperature forecasts were revised lower than previously expected but said price gains were likely to be capped by strong output from Britain's wind farms, curbing demand from power stations.

* Average temperatures in Britain were forecast at 10 degrees Celsius for within-day and 9.9 degrees C for day-ahead, Refinitiv Eikon data showed.

* The forecasts were 1.2 degrees and 0.4 degrees respectively lower than the previous forecast.

* Peak wind power generation is forecast at 8 gigawatts (GW) on Friday and 8.8 GW on Saturday, National Grid data showed.

* "Gas for power forecast quite low at 39 million cubic metres due to strong winds," analysts at Refinitiv said in a daily research note.

* Further out on the curve prices also edged higher.

* May contract up 0.10 p at 34.95 p/therm.

* Winter 2019 contract up 0.50 p at 57.75 p/therm

* Day-ahead gas contract at the Dutch TTF hub had not yet traded.

* Benchmark Dec-19 EU carbon contract down 0.11 euro at 27.17 euros per tonne. (Reporting by Susanna Twidale Editing by Edmund Blair)
